October, 2024 Board Minutes
Minutes: PAGC Board Meeting 10/3/24
Attendees: Franco, Doug, Niraj, Rafa, Driver, Chris W (Observers: Chris Douvos, Brian Garcia,
Patrick Beaulieu)
Reviewed and approved September meeting minutes
Discussed incoming board members for 2025: Brian, Chris, Patrick (all joined the
meeting) – suggested roles:
Patrick: will take on oversight of all systems, hat in the ring for handicap chair
Chris D: Party chief, run annual meeting with Doug
Rules: asked John Driver to proactively send out (USGA rules) video to membership
Tournament Directors:
Break Tournament chair function into two: Scheduling (Doug), Overall chair (Chris W)
Chris will drive consistency in how tournaments are run (giving up HDCP Chair)
Spin up Brian Garcia as TD for 2025
Golf Genius: contract runs Oct1 – Sep30; going up to $3700, another $975 next year
Got 1 partial year membership (so far) this year; PY applicable after stroke play championship
Money on books at Baylands still at $16K, need to draw it down; discussed various ideas:
Baylands not accepting our proposals (e.g. to apply toward tournament fees)
Remind folks that the money can be used at the bar, for food, merchandise, range balls, cart fees
(Doug) will have follow up chat with Matt Shepherd to discuss options
Bylaws: Everyone on the board should read them and become familiar
Last updated in 2019 , Niraj will work on updating them (Doug will send Word version)
BoD must have 7-9 members; can appoint Brian G, Chris D, and Patrick B
2025 Tournaments: San Juan Oaks booked for next year ($195: 175+15+2)
Metropolitan (Apr), Presidio (May), Monterey extravaganza (July)
Lets try mixing it up – Shambles, Team, others?
Marketing Update (Franco)
Newsletter came out 9/20 – 252/353 opened (below average, may have been impacted by 11 am timing), although 12% click rate was up (from 8%); we also doubled the number of clickable links
Members sent in lots of pictures, many used on the tournament pages
Feedback: TDs could take pictures of winners, send them to Franco for inclusion
Move Annual meeting to end of year or January, more appropriate for announcements and “state of union” to membership (perhaps at New Member tournament?)
We will have to reevaluate our shotgun tournament as Bayland insisting on carts
Handicaps (Chris W): Soft/Hard caps dropped this year to 38/2 respectively
Finance (presented by Doug on behalf of Chris D)
We are at 357 members, no adds in September (Niraj: add PY membership to bylaws)
(Thinks) we will come in under budget
Bank balance at $7598 Sept 30, projected to end year at $2706 (like to be at $5K)
Currently projecting us to be $2494 in the red on 2025 budget
(Niraj) asked about vote on Doug’s extension as President. Franco reported that our email had 176 views with 136 yes votes
