PAGC – Minutes 11/14/24 BoD meeting

Attendees: Chris W, Chuck P, Doug M, Franco M, John D, Nick W, Niraj J, Rafa C (+

  • Reviewed and approved October meeting minutes

  • Money on Books: Matt Shepherd sent email to those who left – some donated to the club, couple of others purchased stuff

  • Annual Meeting Shotgun: PAGC insisting on carts, Doug will check if they will give us a discount

  • Partial Year Memberships: Since NCGA is charging us full dues, we will ask people who joined after October to drop out and rejoin in January

  • Reviewed and agreed on board member roles in 2025 (see attachment):

    • Chris Douvos to help Doug and Franco with communications

      • Added Bill Yang (currently does Facebook)

    • Rafa will serve his last year on the board

    • Chris D and Rafa volunteered to serve on Audit committee

  • 2025 Tournaments finalized (see attachment):

    • Booked Moffat – last one for 2025, $95 including mandatory carts

    • Took Harding Park off the schedule for 1 year

  • TDs for 2025: Chris W will send schedule to all TDs, get wish list, and make final assignments of TDs; each TD decides the formats for events which don’t have one set

    • Chris will retain TOC plus 3 majors (Stroke Play, Dir Cup, Match Play)

    • Once TDs assigned (by Dec) setups have to be completed in MP and GG

    • Low Gross or Not? Suggest having it on home events. May not work for “Away” events due to lower player counts and inappropriate for odd formats

  • Pace of Play: had poor pace of play at Cinnabar event

    • Chris W got message that one group was so far behind that another group played through and finished 20 minutes before them > will speak to that group privately

    • Niraj stated on reason - people are not confirming to 3 minute rule for lost balls

    • Chris D: maybe send out rules video on 3 minute rule, explain to people that enforcement is not personal, they are “protecting the field”

  • Q4 Newsletter: Status? Franco stated it was sent out in January last year due to lack of content; can devote a huge section to “John D – Player of the Year”; agreed on January

  • Communications Update: Need more pictures – start taking pics if you think someone (in your group) is likely to be a winner – action pics ideal (mid-swing, etc)

    • Pictures of 3 winners: low gross, low net, overall

    • Anonymous feedback that one individual played preferred lies at Cinnabar and had a top 5 finish, in spite of being told (Automatic DQ? Chris W: yes, but have to come forward before score cards are signed; inform TD, don’t certify score)

    • Nick W: everyone should understand that default is “playing the ball down” unless announced otherwise; John D suggested putting a note on the 1 st Tee

  • Finance Update: (Doug M in absence of Chris Dierkes) Details in attached screenshots, some highlights below:

    • In good shape overall, as per budget

    • Ahead of budget on some categories (e.g. Membership), behind on others

    • Projecting a balance of $1,978 at end of year (would like it closer to $5,000)
